TEACHER UNDER STRESS:
HOW TO KEEP CALM AND BALANCE –
training from the Progressive and Strong Isles
On July 26, 2024, the Progressive and Strong Isles of Odesa Teacher’s Training Professional College, with the support of the NGO Progressive and Strong, held a training "TEACHER UNDER STRESS: HOW TO KEEP YOUR COURAGE AND BALANCE".
The event was aimed at teachers to help them understand the nature of stress and provide effective strategies for managing it.
At the beginning of the event, the training participants were welcomed by the deputy director of the college Valentyna Goranska and the founder of the NGO Progressive and Strong Bohdan Ferens.
Ievgeniia Shelest, coordinator of organizational development at the NGO Progressive and Strong, spoke about the measures that have been taken, are being taken and are planned to support educators who continue to work in Ukraine, including those who had to leave their hometowns because of the war.
During a short break, the training participants had the opportunity to have a little rest, take photos, share their impressions, etc.
Session I, "Anxiety as a part of a teacher's daily life," allowed the participants to learn more about the concept of stress and the main ways to counteract it. Serhiy Goransky, a psychiatrist and narcologist, not only managed to present quite complex and important theoretical material in a very simple way, but also during the relaxed communication he was able to answer many questions and provide a number of practical tips that are very important for teachers themselves, and in particular for their professional activities (working with students and their parents).
During Session II, "Psychological Techniques for Stress Prevention. Practical methods of self-help. Relaxation techniques for improving well-being and sleep", Natalia Kharchenko, a trained psychotherapist, shared effective methods and techniques that can help to be in a resource, maintain one's mental health, and, if necessary, help those around us.
A big plus was that the techniques were not only described, but also practiced by the participants during the training, and the speaker provided a detailed explanation of the mechanism of action of a particular method or technique. Such a presentation of the material significantly improved its understanding and contributed to better assimilation.
The meeting ended with a summary, reflection, and agreements to continue the work of the Isles. The participants of the training expressed their desire to participate in similar events in the future, which indicates that our NGO Progressive and Strong is moving in the right direction. And our teachers are really extremely progressive!
And finally, a photo session. How could we do without it? And with certificates of advanced training!
